Leadership Tip: What To Do with Your Blunders and Absurdities

Time to Read: 1 min...

In this post, I thought I’d share with you a bit of wisdom I have on display in my office as a personal reminder:

“Finish each day and be done with it.

You have done what you could.

Some blunders and absurdities have crept in.

Forget them as soon as you can.

Tomorrow is a new day.

You shall begin it serenely and

with too high a spirit to be encumbered

with your old nonsense.”

                    Ralph Waldo Emerson

Action Steps:

  • At the end of each day, take a deep breath and appreciate what you and your team have accomplished. Then exhale and let go of all the rest of it.
  • Begin the new day with a fresh slate - energized with optimism and high spirits for the possibilities ahead.

Great advice, Charles. I struggle with the feeling that I haven’t accomplished as much as I could have each day. So, I will heed your advice and try not to carry too much over from yesterday’s unfinished business. Thanks for reminding me if I were born today there is nothing I could have done about yesterday.

I like your idea about being born today – a great shift in perspective.
      Thanks Dennis!

Excellent! A practice to be mastered by all! Thank you!
